(COLORADO SPRINGS) —- The losing streak for the Falcons ends at five games after taking down Wyoming 24-21 for their second win of the season. Saturday’s, Oct. 17 win also marked the first time since week one the Air Force defense held an opponent to under 30 points. The defense also came up with two timely turnovers when they needed them most.
One of those turnovers came when the Cowboys were going in to score early in the 4th quarter. Wyoming had third and goal from the Falcon three-yard line when a wildcat formation saw Wyoming Tight End Evan Svoboda throw a pass to the endzone where Roger Jones. Jr stepped in front to halt the Cowboy drive.
“It was awesome to get those two turnovers,” said Falcon Defensive Linemen Payton Zdroik. “Those were game changing things, and I’m just so happy that they’re that they’re playing like the guys they know they are.”
The goal line turnover would lead to the Falcons going 80 yards in eight plays ending in a nine-yard Kade Frew touchdown run. From there, Air Force would remain in front marking their first conference win of the year.
“I don’t think last week’s result propelled us,” said Falcon Head Coach Troy Calhoun. “That’s just not the makeup of our guys emotionally. It’s more about the resolve and the consistency and just the commitment that you have and just the character that we’re trying to teach our guy to keep pushing forward.”
The Falcons will now go into a bye week with momentum as they will now have two weeks to prepare before taking on Army at Falcon Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 1st.
