(MONUMENT, Colo.) — Palmer Ridge High School’s football team is off to a strong start this season, boasting an 8-0 record and ranking second in the 4A RPI standings.
The Bears have maintained a high standard of hard work and execution, winning at least 10 games each season since 2017, with the exception of the 2020 COVID-19 year.
“We have what’s called the gold standard,” said senior Tyler Himebaugh. “We value the weight room, we value just everything on and off the field and trying to build each other up constantly.”
Senior Brody Elliott expressed the importance of enjoying the season, especially as a senior. “It’s really fun,” Elliott said. “You’ve just got to enjoy it while you can, especially me being a senior. I’m really trying to enjoy every practice, every lunch.”
The team has built a strong bond, working hard both on and off the field. “Most of us are friends off the field, too,” Elliott mentioned. “We hang out on the weekends, going to eat breakfast after practice in the summer.”
Palmer Ridge will close out the regular season with games against Rampart and Liberty, aiming to continue their winning streak and maintain focus heading into the playoffs.
