(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center hosted the 11th Annual National Fossil Day Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 11, in a free, family-friendly event.
The event was hosted in partnership with the Western Interior Paleontological Society and other local organizations and offered a day of discovery, learning, and fun.
Guests of all ages were able to enjoy hands-on fossil, dinosaur, and natural history activities, as well as live animal demonstrations with Nature’s Educators, and they had the chance to take home a real fossil.
“National Fossil Day is all about discovery,” said Bret Tennis, Garden of the Gods Parks operations administrator. “Fossils have a way of sparking curiosity, especially in kids, and reminding us how connected we are to the Earth’s story. It’s a fun, hands-on way to explore and learn together.”
