(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said a man has been arrested for his alleged connection with an investigation into the Sexual Assault of a Child that started in August.
PCSO detectives, detectives with PCSO’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), and a deputy assigned as a School Resource Officer (SRO) started an investigation in August of 29-year-old Austin Halderman when, according to PCSO, the SRO working in a Pueblo County School District 70 elementary school got a tip of a possible sexual assault on a child.
During PCSO’s investigation, detectives learned that Halderman allegedly had been having inappropriate relations with a child for at least three years. ICAC detectives processed evidence that contained child sexual abuse material.
PCSO said after a thorough investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals to help find Halderman, who lives in Thornton. Halderman was taken into custody on Thursday, Sept. 11, on a warrant for sexual assault on a child, sexual exploitation of a child, and aggravated incest.

“I would like to commend the deputies and detectives who work on these very sensitive cases involving child victims,” said Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero. “Through the dedicated and thorough investigative work, they were able to obtain an arrest warrant and quickly get the suspect into custody.”
