(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) upped its social media game with the introduction of what the organization calls “the three orange cats who run our social media.”
These “cats” create hilarious Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram posts that have garnered a large fan base while putting the spotlight on animals that need loving homes. Recently, one of their Instagram posts caught the attention of the Today Show for categorizing several of their shelter cats as characters from the show “Sex and the City.”

HSPPR’s Public Relations Manager, Cody Costra, said the post, which was created on Monday, Aug. 18, was intended to “show off the fun, unique personalities of our shelter cats by comparing them to the iconic characters from ‘Sex and the City.’ We also took the opportunity to join the trending conversation around the finale of ‘And Just Like That,’ tapping into a cultural moment people were already talking about.”

By connecting the cats to characters that audiences already know and love, HSPPR hoped to make them more relatable and increase their chances of finding a home with someone who felt a spark of kinship with them.

Need a special companion who is confident, passionate, and maybe a little clingy, like Carrie? HSPPR had four cats who were compared to the fashionable lead character, such as Stevie, who was “somehow the hot party girl, despite being weird,” and Ashlynn, who has a “truly bizarre energy that can’t be contained.” And with Astrid, all you have to do is look at her to know she is a Carrie.

Feel a special connection to the no-nonsense, yet inwardly vulnerable Miranda? According to HSPPR, Kitty, who is a girl boss on the surface, yet “secretly just wants to cuddle on the couch with takeout,” and Penelope, is “judgmental, but usually right.”
Like Samantha, Purrpuss “would throw a martini in someone’s face and then order another one like nothing happened.” And Fairweather Fred is “secretly the kindest and most stable friend.”
For those who love the supportive, yet stuck in her ways, Charlotte, cats such as Midnight, who “needs a nice, stable, bald man to keep him grounded,” and Chyna, who is “not above acting helpless if it gets her more attention,” fit the bill.

Costra said that having the national exposure from the Today Show feature “means so much to HSPPR because it shines a light not only on the animals in our care, but also on shelter pets across the country,” and highlights the dedication of shelter employees everywhere.
The “three orange cats” who run HSPPR’s social media accounts and come up with such clever schemes have been doing a great job bringing HSPPR’s story to life by highlighting staff, daring rescues, events, happy adoption updates, and shining a light on pets who need extra help finding their new home. Costra said, “It takes a lot of creativity to connect with people across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, and we’re so proud of the way they’ve grown our following while keeping things fun and engaging.”

Those looking to adopt their own “Sex and the City” companion cat have only two chances left, according to Costra. As of Monday, Aug. 25, all featured cats have been adopted, except for Pop Tart, a Carrie who “has lived a thousand lives and learned absolutely nothing from them,” and Bubba, a Miranda who “needs someone who is extremely non-clingy.” However, there are plenty of potential Samantha-or-Charlotte-cats available at HSPPR, just waiting to find their special people.
