(PUEBLO, Colo.) — As the Colorado State Fair comes to a close on Labor Day, the Autism Society of Colorado and Pueblo Pediatric Therapy Center hosted a day of fun for children of all abilities.
The day focused around creating a quiet, safe environment for those who can find the lights and noise over-simulating. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Colorado State Fair turned off the flashing lights, the music, and PA announcements so everyone could enjoy fair activities without feeling overwhelmed.
The fair also had educational activities for kids to learn and enjoy agriculture like “Ag-Venture Land” and the Great American Petting Farm, giving everyone something to get excited about.
“Our whole jobs are to create memories for people, and we want to make sure that when we are able to create memories, that we’re including all sorts of groups of people,” said Andrea Wiesenmeyer, General Manager of the State Fair. “Whether that was Exceptional Rodeo earlier this week or Sensory Day today, we want to find ways that everybody can celebrate at their level of ability.”
If you couldn’t make it to the fair this year, Peublo announced next year’s date–the 2026 Colorado State Fair will run Aug. 28 – Sept. 7.
