(SAGUACHE COUNTY, Colo.) — A search with cadaver dogs in Saguache County has wrapped up as investigators continue to piece together the disappearance of a 29-year-old woman in 2016.
According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Wednesday, Aug. 6, its agency completed a targeted search in the Crestone area alongside the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Forensics Canines in connection to the 2016 disappearance of Kristal Reisinger.

The CBI said four cadaver dogs were deployed to a specific location in Crestone, which is believed to be connected to the case. Reisinger was 29 years old when she was last seen in Crestone on or around July 13, 2016.
Reisinger’s disappearance has been a nationally and internationally known case, notably featured on the “Up and Vanished” podcast. According to our sister station FOX31 in Denver, which covered the case in 2017, Reisinger had moved to Crestone from Denver, possibly for spiritual reasons, and was last seen at a drum circle. Her friend and landlord told FOX31 that Reisinger had been “partying a lot,” and that she had been inviting quite a few “sketchy” people over to her apartment in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, the CBI said the most recent search with cadaver dogs was completed, though “no additional details about the findings are being released as the investigation is active and ongoing.”

The CBI continues to ask anyone with information to contact investigators.
“Authorities emphasize that no tip, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, will be discounted and tipsters can remain anonymous,” the CBI said. “The public is urged to come forward with any information related to Kristal Reisinger’s disappearance.”
