UPDATE: THURSDAY 8/28/2025 4:07 p.m.
(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The City of Manitou Springs has announced that a section of Lovers Lane in Manitou Springs will remain closed indefinitely until an engineer can assess the rockface for stability.
According to the City, the sandstone face on the north side of Lovers Lane must be evaluated and stabilized by a structural engineer and contractor before the area can safely reopen.
City officials are in the process of coordinating with the private property owner where the rocks originated to develop a mitigation plan.
City crews completed clean-up operations after private towing companies removed two privately owned vehicles that were damaged during the rockslide. The vehicles were not located on the private property from which the rocks originated. No injuries were reported, and the extent of infrastructure damage remains under review.

Traffic is currently detoured at the intersection of Lovers Lane and Lafayette Road, with alternate access to Cañon Avenue available. All businesses located south of the closure remain open to the public. There is no estimated timeline for reopening, the City said.
