(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Poor Richard’s Restaurant, located at 324 1/2 North Tejon, is offering free meals and drinks to all federal employees and their families who have been impacted by the federal government shutdown, starting Friday, October 24, through the end of the shutdown.
According to a press release from Poor Richard’s Downtown, federal employees and their families, who have been furloughed, dismissed, or are working without pay, can present their government ID at the Poor Richard’s Restaurant register, and once per week, their meal and drinks will be on the house.
“We just want to help our dedicated, local federal employees when they and their families need it most,” stated co-owners Richard Skorman and Patricia Seator.
Poor Richard’s is urging other businesses to follow suit, so that everyone can do what they can during the shutdown. Those who want to help Poor Richard’s offset the cost of providing meals to federal employees and their families can donate online, to one of the restaurant’s contribution boxes, or add a donation to the bill of an order at any of the Poor Richard’s businesses.
