(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — The Cañon City Area Fire Protection District reported on Saturday, July 5, that crews responded to multiple fires around the area of Cañon City, including a fire on the west side of Skyline Drive resulting from the community fireworks display on Friday, July 4.
According to the Fire Protection District, the community fireworks display was cut short, around 9:40 p.m. on Friday, due to multiple spot fires that had popped up on the west side of Skyline Drive, near Cañon City. The fire grew to about five acres before crews contained it by around 6:45 a.m. Crews remained on scene afterward to mop up remaining hotspots.

An unrelated structure fire broke out in the 1000 block of Indiana Avenue, near Washington Street in Cañon City, resulting in moderate damage to a detached garage, and another incident involving a fully engulfed fifth-wheel camper trailer also kept the Fire Protection District busy, including other routine calls for service.
According to the district, with all of the activity that took place over the night, no injuries were reported, and the causes of the structure and trailer fires remain under investigation.
