(SAGUACHE COUNTY, Colo.) — According to the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office, a man was arrested after threatening campers with an axe at the Penitente Campground on Saturday, July 19.

The two victims saw a man, later identified as Steven Sanguinetti, rummaging through their personal belongings, according to the Sheriff’s office. When the campers confronted him, he left the area but was later seen watching them from a distance.
The victims told the deputies that as they were attempting to drive away from their campsite, Sanguinetti approached them with an axe and began swinging it in a threatening manner.
Soon after receiving the report, deputies found Sanguinetti and took him into custody without incident. The Sheriff’s Office stated that Sanguinetti was charged with Felony Menacing, Harassment, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Impersonation, and Criminal Attempt. He currently has a $20,000 bond.
