(BOULDER) — Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes secured a significant victory against No. 22 Iowa State, winning 24-17 at Folsom Field.
The student section rushed the field, following the second win over an AP Top 25 ranked opponent in coach Sanders’ tenure at Boulder.
Despite a slow start and trailing into the third quarter, Colorado managed to turn the game around with key plays, including a 70-yard touchdown pass from Kaidan Salter to Omarion Miller.
“I’m so darn happy for these young men,” said Coach Prime, expressing his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
The Buffaloes’ defense, described as ‘bend but don’t break,’ allowed over 230 rushing yards but made crucial stops when needed.
Micah Welch contributed to the early lead with an eight-yard touchdown run, putting Colorado ahead 7-0.
Tawfiq Byard’s interception in the end zone was pivotal in sealing the victory for Colorado.
A flag was thrown during the game but was later waived, ensuring the interception stood.
Kaidan Salter was instrumental in the win throwing for over 250 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 57 yards on nine carries.
Following this victory, Colorado heads into their bye week with momentum before facing another challenging opponent, Utah.
