(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers responding to a domestic disturbance near Lake Avenue heard the arming of a gun before shots were fired on Wednesday, July 30.
According to CSPD, on Wednesday at around 11:30 p.m., police responded to an anonymous domestic disturbance call in the 1100 block of Norwood Avenue near Lake and Southgate Road.
When police arrived, they made contact through a closed door/window with an “uncooperative” man and woman. Police said the man was highly agitated at the police presence, and the woman said there was no problem.
As police were returning to their vehicles, they saw the man exit the home and heard the “‘rack’ of a firearm slide.” CSPD said that while officers took cover, they heard three gunshots. No one was hit by the gunfire.
The suspect, identified as Marcus Curry, returned inside the home. After a brief standoff, police took Curry into custody. The woman was found unharmed.
Curry was arrested and is facing charges of Attempted Assault in the First Degree.
