(BUENA VISTA, Colo.) — Three people were taken to the hospital after an SUV hit two women walking on the sidewalk of Highway 24 in Buena Vista, then crashed into a building.
According to the Buena Vista Police Department (BVPD), on Monday morning, Aug. 18, officers responded to a crash involving two pedestrians along Highway 24 south of Linderman Avenue. BVPD said two women had been walking on the sidewalk when they were hit by an SUV.
BVPD said the SUV then crashed through a building on the west side of Highway 24 before coming to a stop. Three people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, one of whom was taken by helicopter.
“When this crash happened, multiple citizens rushed to the aid of the women who had been struck by the vehicle,” BVPD said. “We want to thank everyone who assisted in helping the injured citizens, and those who stayed and provided witness statements to officers.”
BVPD is investigating, and asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have gotten photos or videos of the incident to contact BVPD at (719) 395-8654 and ask to speak to Detective Michelle Flores.
BVPD did not specify whether any charges have been filed in connection to the crash.
