(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Four were injured after a car hit a tree and caught fire near the intersection of Highway 24 and South 26th Street, just south of Old Colorado City, on Saturday, Aug. 16, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that around 5 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection, where they learned that the car had been driving westbound on Hwy 24 and had passed through the intersection, where it went over the northwest curb.
According to CSPD, the car then hit a light pole and continued westbound on the shoulder until it crashed through a chain-link fence and into a tree. The tree fell onto the truck, and the truck caught fire. All four people in the car were able to get out before the car was fully engulfed.
