(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s office (PCSO) said on Thursday, Sept. 18, an active shooter exercise will be held at the Dennis Maes Judicial Building.
The exercise will involve the 10th Judicial District Court, 10th Judicial District Probation, PCSO, and other local first responder agencies. According to PCSO, the exercise is designed to test the court and probation staff’s actions and response should an armed intruder enter the building and start shooting. The exercise will also test the response capabilities of the sheriff’s deputies who work in the building, and the Pueblo Fire Department, AMR, and local hospitals will also test their capabilities.
The drill is scheduled to start around 9:30 a.m. and should be finished by early afternoon. The building will be closed to the public for the entire day.
PCSO said the public should expect to see exercise-related activity in the area of the Dennis Maes Judicial Building, including responders in appropriate PPE and emergency equipment, and vehicles deployed to the scene, such as multiple ambulances and medical helicopters.
