(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Friday, Sept. 19, a group of local volunteers from Target helped build affordable homes in Colorado Springs with Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity.
The build took place at the Ridge at Sand Creek project, a 30-home development project, with 24 homes completed. Volunteers said the volunteer work goes a long way to help Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
“The people that they’re helping are your neighbors. It is people in our community, through workforce housing, your teachers, and bus drivers,” said Sarah Buchen, Volunteer Manager at Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity. “We help people that are looking for affordable homeownership on various scales.”
Volunteers build 90% of every Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity home, which helps enable affordable homeownership in El Paso County.
