(WOODLAND PARK, Colo.) — The Woodland Park School District (WPSD) said that, due to the loss of city sales tax revenue, the district will be reducing staff for the 2025 – 2026 school year.
On Monday, March 10, the City Council of Woodland Park voted unanimously to repeal the 1.09% sales tax. City Council said the vote was the result of imminent action by the WPSD School Board “directly aimed at impairing the prerogative of this Council to act in the best interests of City voters with respect to the tax referenced in the foregoing section, all for the benefit of a single charter school in the District.”
WPSD said the budget constraints following the loss of sales tax revenue have caused them to reduce staffing for the upcoming school year. At this time, FOX21 News does not know what positions will be cut.
“This decision was not made lightly; however, no academic or extracurricular programs have been cut, and the district remains committed to continuing all existing programs for students,” said WPSD.
