UPDATE: SUNDAY 7/13/2025 11:17 a.m.
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — CSPD reported that police were notified about the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Powers and Fountain around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.
According to CSPD, when emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found that in one car, two people had died at the scene. The other two people in that car had life-threatening injuries and were rushed to the hospital. The driver of the second car also had injuries and was taken to the hospital.
CSPD reported that the Major Crash Team took over the scene, and the initial investigation indicated that a black SUV was traveling northbound on Powers, and when it attempted to turn left on Fountain, a blue SUV that was driving southbound on Powers collided with the black SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
According to COTrip, the crash has been cleared and all lanes are reopened at the intersection.
ORIGINAL HEADLINE: Deadly crash closes intersection of Powers and Fountain

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported around 5 a.m. that a fatal crash at the intersection of East Fountain Boulevard and South Powers Boulevard has closed all lanes of traffic in both directions on Sunday morning, July 13.
According to CSPD, two people were dead at the scene and three were taken to the hospital after the crash; their conditions are unknown at this time.

All lanes of both Powers and Fountain are closed. Fountain is closed from Aeroplaza Drive to Powers. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
