(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A non-profit organization in Colorado Springs, Parents Challenge, is transforming educational opportunities for children by providing financial assistance and resources to families.
Amanda Archuleta, a single mother, discovered Parents Challenge in 2019 and found it life-changing for her children’s education. The organization offers families in Southern Colorado the financial help and tools needed to explore various educational paths.
“Our answer is always the same, that it’s your choice. We’re in business to empower you, not to empower us,” said Steve Schuck, co-founder of Parents Challenge.
“I had all three kids just in public school because like, I didn’t know what to do otherwise,” Archuleta said.
Archuleta’s children have taken diverse educational paths thanks to the support from Parents Challenge. Her oldest, Gabriel, is attending CU Boulder to pursue his passion for music. Gabriel expressed his desire to give back to the community by reducing financial barriers in music education.
Xavier, the middle child, chose to attend the Colorado Military Academy, while the youngest, Zander, is homeschooled. The family credits Parents Challenge for providing the necessary financial support to cover the costs associated with each educational choice.
“I’m super thankful for the support that allowed my mom and me to afford the educational opportunities we have,” Gabriel said.
Parents Challenge has been instrumental in helping over 4,000 kids in the past 25 years, with funding primarily coming from private individuals and foundations within the community.
Schuck emphasizes that the focus of Parents Challenge is on the children and their unique educational needs, advocating for parental choice in selecting the best educational path.
Parents Challenge continues to empower families in Colorado Springs, offering them the freedom to choose the best educational options for their children and helping to unlock doors to diverse opportunities.
