DENVER (KDVR) — No injuries were reported after a small plane crash-landed on a Castle Rock roadway on Monday night.
The Castle Rock Police Department and Castle Rock Fire and Rescue were on the scene as of 7:14 p.m. The agency said that the small plane had crashed just before 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of Wolfensberger Road and Prairie Hawk Drive.
FOX31 was able to obtain photos of the plane after it landed on Prairie Hawk Drive, and is sending a crew to the scene.
Castle Rock police said that there are no additional hazards in the area, but Prairie Hawk Drive will be closed from Wolfensberger Road to Switch Grass Drive while the plane crash is investigated and cleared.
Motorists are asked to use Red Hawk Drive as an alternate route.
The police department said that it had notified the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board about the crash. Neither agency was expected to go to the scene on Monday.
The police department said it would also be towing the plane from the roadway to open it up for motorists.
The plane, according to FAA records, is a 1966 Piper PA-28-235, which has a single engine and four seats. As of Monday evening, FOX31 was working to learn how many people had been on board at the time of the crash.
This is a developing story. As information is gathered, including what led to the crash and where the plane was going or had come from, this article will be updated.
