(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A 19-year-old has been arrested on multiple charges after he was found in possession of high-capacity rounds and a modified handgun before running from police.
According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), an officer was on patrol around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 when they spotted a red car parked at J.J. Raygoza Park after the City’s park curfew. Pueblo parks are closed to the public from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., seven days a week, PPD said.
The officer approached the car, which had three people inside, and noticed one of the people in the backseat was wearing a mask. A live 10mm round was next to the person in the mask, PPD said. In addition, a gun magazine was located between the rear passenger seats.
For safety reasons, the officer asked everyone to step out of the car. The backseat passenger, identified as 19-year-old Demetri Osorio, was found to have a black handgun with an extended magazine in his seat. PPD said the gun was equipped with a high-capacity magazine and a switch allowing for automatic firing. Osorio immediately ran from the scene, and officers were unable to catch him.

However, thanks to a follow-up investigation, officers successfully located Osorio at his place of work on July 17 and took him into custody. He was booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on felony charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a large capacity magazine, prohibited use of a weapon, and misdemeanor consumption of alcohol by a minor.
