DENVER (KDVR) — When 35-year-old Christopher Daniel Dickerson walked into a downtown Greeley bar on Oct. 2, 2021, he didn’t know that the two women he’d meet there would end up killing him.
Dickerson was only a week away from his 36th birthday when he went to the bar, apparently in search of a casual evening, according to prosecutors. That night, he met two women and they ended up following him home to continue their evening.
“Chris did not deserve to die that day that he befriended those two young women,” said Chris’s father, Allen Dickerson, during Rodriguez’s sentencing in March, according to the Greeley Police Department. “Chris deserved so much more in his life.”
Greeley police and firefighters were called to Dickerson’s home on 15th Avenue Court in the early morning hours of Oct. 3, 2021. Officials were told by neighbors that Dickerson could still be inside.
In the debris, officers located Dickerson. It was later determined that he had been stabbed in the neck with a metal file in his own home, leading to his death. Then, surveillance footage was found showing two figures driving away.
In January 2024, Hosanna Valera, who was 23 at the time of the murder, pled guilty and was sentenced to over 30 years in prison for first-degree arson, tampering with a deceased human body and accessory to murder. In March this year, after a three-week trial, Stacy Rodriguez, who was 19 at the time, was found guilty and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder.
Details of the case will be featured on A&E Friday night at 7 p.m. MT during the show “Killer Cases.” The episode will cover Dickerson’s murder and includes interviews with Greeley police detectives, according to the Greeley Police Department.
If you don’t catch the show on Friday night, the episode will be available on streaming services like Hulu, Peacock and more.
