(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo has issued a flash flood warning until 7:15 p.m. for parts of Saguache, Alamosa, Custer, and Huerfano counties.
NWS said at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across southeastern Saguache County, northeastern Alamosa County, western Custer County, and northwestern Huerfano County.

Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain had already fallen, and the expected rainfall rate was 1 to 2.5 inches in an hour.
According to NWS, Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, along with other poor drainage and low-lying areas, is possible. Debris flow is also possible across and near the west-facing slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
A flash flood warning has also been issued for Central Fremont County until 6:45 p.m.
NWS advises those in the area take precautionary measures, including: turning around when encountering flooded areas, being aware of your surroundings, and do not attempt to cross flooded roads–find an alternate route.
The flash flood warning is currently active until 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
