(LA JUNTA, Colo.) — Law enforcement in La Junta is investigating after a man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting on Thursday, Aug. 7.
According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), officers with the La Junta Police Department (LJPD) responded just after noon on Thursday to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Bradish Avenue, just west of Main Street. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds as well as two others who were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The man with life-threatening injuries later died.
The CBI said the investigation is active and ongoing, though there is no threat to the community. LJPD requested assistance from the CBI “due to the nature of the incident.”
“Authorities are not releasing the identities of the victims at this time, nor are they providing any further details about the circumstances of the shooting,” the CBI said.
