(COLORADO SPRINGS) — While conducting a search warrant in an apartment west of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) detectives found over a pound of cocaine and more than $28,000 on Thursday, Sept. 4, around 11:30 a.m., according to police.
CSPD reported that the Metro Narcotics Unit (MNU) learned that illegal drugs were being distributed from an apartment on North Spruce Street, near West Pikes Peak Avenue. Detectives began to investigate in the area, conducting several types of surveillance to identify the apartment in the complex where the distributors lived and sold large amounts of drugs.
At one point, police stopped a vehicle that had been observed involved in a transaction with the dealer, according to CSPD. A narcotics K9 was brought to the vehicle to investigate, and drugs were discovered in the vehicle, leading detectives to identify the specific apartment and obtain a search warrant.
According to CSPD, while detectives were carrying out the search warrant, they interacted with the people who lived there, 29-year-old Ricardo Burch and 22-year-old Haleigh Micci. Detectives questioned the two on scene and released them pending further investigation. In the search, 645 grams of powder cocaine and over $28,000 cash were seized from the apartment.
Detectives later learned that Burch had a separate home located in the 2500 block of East Platte Avenue, near North Circle Drive, and obtained a second warrant for that address. During the search, detectives found an M11 with a loaded extended magazine, and additional cash and illegal drugs were seized.
