(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Multiple people were arrested on Monday, Sept. 22, after detectives tracked down a stolen vehicle. After the car drove away from the police, an air unit monitored the vehicle and alerted detectives, leading to an arrest, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that on Monday, around 9:41 a.m., detectives from the motor vehicle theft unit located a stolen Hyundai Elantra while participating in a Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement (BATTLE) deployment. The Elantra had been reported stolen on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Detectives watched the Hyundai and observed that it contained several people, according to the CSPD. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped away from the police. A Colorado State Patrol air unit assisted CSPD by monitoring the Hyundai until it eventually stopped in the 700 block of Chapman Drive, near Airport Road and South Academy Boulevard.
The three occupants of the car, identified as the driver, 38-year-old Kelvin Jacks, and passengers, 25-year-old Chyann Carmona, and 42-year-old Bryan Cromquest, got out, and detectives intercepted them at a nearby park.
Cromquest was arrested for Vehicular Eluding and Motor Vehicle theft, as well as outstanding warrants, and Carmona was arrested for outstanding warrants. Both were taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, according to CSPD.
