(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce & Visit Pueblo hosted a paws-itively delightful community event on Wednesday, June 18, and invited everyone to bring their four-legged family members along for the fun.
The Second Annual Dog Days of Summer Community Dog Walk was held at the Historic Pueblo Riverwalk on Wednesday, with Pueblo County Commissioner Miles Lucero and his pup Noodles leading the festivities. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region was on site, as well as active officers of animal law enforcement (ALE), to ensure a safe evening for all.
At the event, there were plenty of local vendors, shelters, and pet-based organizations set up along the Riverwalk in Gateway Plaza. Pet owners could enter in giveaways, receive treats for their doggos, and gather valuable information on care and traveling with their pets. Riverwalk restaurants also offered special discounts and treats throughout the evening.
“We’ve never had anything like this in the Pueblo community, so it’s super impactful,” said Cara Siegel with the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce. “The community has taken such a liking to it, I believe we’re anticipating about 250 dogs… and well over 400 people.”
The dog walk also caps off Pueblo Dog Week–a week dedicated to showcasing all of the dog-friendly atmospheres around the Steel City.
