(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County are inviting those living in the community to participate in a series of community open house events as part of a regional Housing Needs Assessment in July.
The City said the open houses are an opportunity for the community to learn more about housing needs in the region and to share their own experiences, perspectives, and concerns. The Housing Needs Assessment is a regional effort led by the City of Colorado Springs to provide a clear picture of the housing supply, challenges, and needs across El Paso County.
According to the City, the assessment will provide a comprehensive analysis, helping communities develop tailored housing and community development strategies. Specific to the City of Colorado Springs, the assessment will result in a series of geographic recommendations, including housing needs, funding and finance opportunities, partnership opportunities, and a housing dashboard.
“These open houses are a chance for residents to learn more about the housing landscape in our region and to share what they’re experiencing in their own neighborhoods,” said Aimee Cox, Chief Housing and Homelessness Officer for the City of Colorado Springs. “Hearing directly from community members helps us build a more complete understanding of the housing needs across our region and city.”
Each open house will follow the same format and presentation materials. Community members are encouraged to attend the session that best fits their schedule. Events are come-and-go style, so participants are welcome to attend at any time during the open house window and are not required to stay for the entire duration.
