(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Beginning on Monday, Oct. 6 and lasting through the week, Austin Bluffs Parkway will be down to one lane east and westbound near Academy Boulevard so crews can replace a broken water valve and fire hydrant.
According to Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities), two eastbound lanes of Austin Bluffs will close between American Drive and Academy Boulevard from Oct. 6-10 to accommodate the work and repaving of the road. The far left lane will remain open for through traffic, broadening to all eastbound lanes just before Academy Boulevard to allow for left and right turns at that intersection.
The westbound lane closures between Meadowland Boulevard and Brenner Place are already in place and will remain through November as construction on the Springs Utilities Central Bluffs substation continues.
Eastbound lane closures are shown below in orange, westbound lane closures shown in blue:
Springs Utilities said businesses in the affected area will be open and alternative access to their parking lots will be available. Construction work may be conducted outside normal work hours, Springs Utilities warned.
During the closures, travelers are asked to plan alternate routes, or if you must travel in the area, be prepared for delays and plan for slower traffic. Always approach construction zones with caution and watch for crews.
