(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Two of the three suspects in a shooting in a parking lot at Memorial Park in April have been arrested.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), in April, officers responded to a report of a shooting at a parking lot of Memorial Park. During that incident, three underage suspects allegedly fired more than 30 rounds at a car with two people inside, many of which hit the car.
Investigators identified the three teens and sought arrest warrants. Because of the seriousness of the offenses, the warrants carried a “no bond” status, CSPD said.
One of the teens was already on probation for previous offenses and was a suspect in numerous smash-and-grab burglaries. That teen was located after a short surveillance operation and taken into custody in Old Colorado City.
A second teen suspected to be involved in the Memorial Park shooting turned himself in to police on Tuesday, Sept. 16. He is currently facing two counts of attempted murder. During a hearing on Wednesday, a judge ordered the teen’s release on a personal recognizance bond, and he was subsequently released.
The third suspect remains at large, CSPD said. Due to their ages at the time of the incident, the suspects’ identities are not being released.
