(PALMER LAKE, Colo.) — The Town of Palmer Lake has released a summary of the terms negotiated with travel center chain Buc-ee’s for a proposed annexation agreement in Palmer Lake, which includes stipulations of who foots the bill for things like necessary water and road improvements.
The Town of Palmer Lake sent out a summary of terms that have been negotiated so far, which includes agreements by Buc-ee’s to pay for any required improvements to County Line Road, Beacon Lite Road, and the I-25/County Line Road interchange. The Town of Palmer Lake will not be responsible for any of the road improvements related to the Buc-ee’s development.
Also in the negotiated terms is an agreement that Buc-ee’s will be responsible for adding multiple wells and a 12-inch water line along County Line Road.
In addition to infrastructure agreements, the proposal also includes sales and property tax agreements, as well as jurisdictional agreements concerning nearby police and fire departments. Buc-ee’s also agreed to make a “community contribution” to the Town in the amount of $350,000, to be paid within 30 days of the travel center opening.
The full 9-page proposal, which can be read below, also includes stipulations regarding wastewater, lighting, landscaping, signage, and more.
The Town of Palmer Lake said the summary and proposal are merely negotiated terms, and do not represent a binding contract between the Town and Buc-ee’s. The Board of Trustees is scheduled to consider and possibly vote on the agreement at a Special Trustee Meeting on Aug. 28.
