(COLORADO SPRINGS) — While Jiesyl Rama and Bryce Ewing are not competing in the 2025 Department of Defense Warrior Games, they still showed up for a greater purpose.
Jiesyl Rama spent eight years in the Navy, until the Bonhomme Richard Fire caused her serious injuries in 2020. After retirement, she was introduced to adaptive sports, which got her into coaching and opened several doors, including the Department of Defense Warrior Games and Invictus Games.
Rama has been a part of two Warrior Games and one Invictus Games, where she met Bryce Ewing in 2024 during a Team USA camp, snowboarding.
Ewing joined the Army in 2012, until she had to also medically retire after fighting Stage 3 breast cancer.
The two have used adaptive sports platforms to feel that sense of comradery they once felt while serving.
Rama is not only an athlete, but also an ambassador for an organization called The Athlete Confidential that focusses on athlete’s mental health.
