(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — According to CSP, the driver of the vehicle died after a rollover accident in which she was ejected from the car.
CSP reported that the Nissan Murano was traveling westbound on Highway 50 when it drove off the right side of the road and hit a delineator post – a pole with a reflector on top that indicates the edge of the road. The car continued off the road and rolled over while rotating across the westbound lanes, off the southwest side, and into the center median.
As the car was rolling over, the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was thrown from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to COTrip, Highway 50 is reopened to traffic.

One person died in a crash on US Highway 50, just west of Cañon City, closing the highway in both directions on Saturday, May 17.
COTrip reported that the crash occurred between Tunnel Drive and Skyline Drive, one mile west of Cañon City. According to the COTrip map, the scene of the crash on Highway 50 is parallel to Skyline Drive.
According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), a fatal crash involving one vehicle, a Nissan Murano, occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at milepost 276, near PCC Boulevard. The driver was declared dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the car.

CSP reported that both eastbound and westbound lanes were fully shut down around 11:40 a.m. between milepost 276 and milepost 277, near Tunnel Drive. COTrip reported that the left lane was reopened to traffic around 1 p.m. Drivers should expect delays and watch for emergency responders.
