(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The “Steps to Empower Walk,” an annual event held on Saturday morning, August 2, aimed to support human trafficking survivors in Colorado Springs.
Proceeds from the event go to Bakhita Mountain Home, which provides assistance, support, and rent-free housing for up to two years to sex trafficking survivors.
Jason Frazier from Bakhita Mountain Home emphasized the importance of community involvement in supporting human trafficking survivors. “Colorado is actually one of the worst states when it comes to human trafficking,” said Frazier. “So number one, we want to bring a message out there that there is hope, there is help….get the community to rally.”
Bakhita Mountain Home’s independent communal living program supports ongoing goal development and achievement for survivors, offering a path to recovery and empowerment.
The “Steps to Empower Walk” not only raised funds but also raised awareness about human trafficking, encouraging community involvement and support for survivors.
