(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Five finalists have been named for the interim position of Pueblo County Coroner after county commissioners narrowed down the list from 16 applicants in a special meeting on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The selection process involved interviewing the five remaining candidates, with the commissioners ranking them based on desirability scores. The commissioners plan to host a public discussion to decide on the final candidate, although a date for this meeting has not yet been scheduled.
The board emphasized that they are prioritizing transparency throughout the selection process.
“Again, remind folks that this is not an election,” said Zach Swearingen, Pueblo County Commissioner. “There is an election in a year. This is an appointment and this is an appointment to clean up in as best as possible a very, very tragic situation and try and get us out of that as best as possible.”
