(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) expects more charges against a group of suspects believed to be involved in as many as 12 car thefts over the span of two days.
According to PPD, officers responded in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 12 to the southwest side of Pueblo to recover numerous stolen cars. When officers arrived, PPD said the suspects drove away in one of the stolen cars, lost control, and crashed near the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard and Redwood Lane, west of Lake Minnequa.
The suspects then got out of the car and ran. Four suspects, two adults and two minors, were subsequently arrested. The two adults, identified as 24-year-old Gabriel Cervantez and 20-year-old Jynessa Wisthoff, are facing multiple counts of motor vehicle theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The two minors are also facing motor vehicle theft charges.

PPD said the group of suspects is believed to have been involved in up to 12 car thefts in the 48 hours leading up to their arrests. Aside from the thefts, PPD said the suspects may also be responsible for thousands of dollars in damage due to broken car windows.
Additional criminal charges are expected, PPD said.
