(COLORADO SPRINGS) — CSPD said North Powers Boulevard reopened shortly after 7:30 p.m. after an approximately 3-hour closure.
UPDATE: Pileup closes southbound Powers Boulevard

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), an estimated 11 cars were involved in an earlier crash near North Carefree Circle on North Powers Boulevard.
CSPD said the initial call to dispatchers came in around 4:15 p.m., reporting a multi-car crash in the southbound lanes of Powers just north of N. Carefree. CSPD estimates 11 cars were involved, though some involved cars were not disabled and were able to drive away from the scene after the initial investigation.
Six people were taken to the hospital with injuries, four of them with serious injuries and two with minor injuries. As of CSPD’s update shortly before 6 p.m., all were reported as stable.
CSPD said it is currently unknown how the crash occurred, though drugs and alcohol are not considered factors. Speed and distracted driving are being considered as possible factors.
Powers Boulevard is currently closed southbound between Barnes Road and North Carefree, and CSPD anticipates the closure to continue for at least another hour.

All southbound lanes are closed at North Powers Boulevard and North Carefree Circle due to a crash, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD).
CSFD posted to X (formerly known as Twitter) just after 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, that multiple fire crews were responding to a multi-vehicle crash in the area.
Fire crews said they were able to free a trapped person from the crash, and added that there is still a heavy police and fire presence at the scene.
Crews are asking drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
