(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s (PCSO) Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) wildland fire team responded to around ten small brush fires along Highway 96 west of Pueblo around noon on Saturday, Aug. 9.
According to the sheriff’s office, ESB and multiple other agencies responded to put out the fires that popped up along a seven-mile stretch of the highway near mile marker 41, southwest of the Pueblo Reservoir. According to PCSO, the teams were able to put out the fires quickly, and no structures were threatened.
PCSO stated that the fires were caused by a broken wheel on a trailer that created sparks, which ignited the brush.
