(MONUMENT, Colo.) — The Monument Police Department (MPD) said one of its officers has been arrested on domestic violence-related charges.
On Monday, June 23, MPD posted on social media that Sergeant Jose Barraza of MPD was arrested on charges related to domestic violence and child abuse by the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, June 18.
MPD said Sgt. Barraza has been an officer with MPD since April of 2022. MPD has placed Sgt. Barraza on administrative leave pending the resolution of the charges and an internal affairs investigation.
“All members of the Monument Police Department are held to the highest standards, and allegations against members of the department will be thoroughly investigated and resolved while protecting the same due process afforded to anyone accused of a crime,” writes MPD.
