(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A minor pedestrian was hit and killed on I-25 near South Academy Boulevard on Friday evening, May 16.
According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), troopers responded on Friday to a crash involving a minor pedestrian and a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The minor was taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The driver of the Jeep, a 50-year-old man, was uninjured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
As of Friday around 8 p.m., only the left lane of northbound I-25 was open at South Academy. The right lane and right shoulder are closed. Delays are expected, so travelers should seek alternate routes until further notice.
