(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left one person injured in Fountain in April.
According to the Fountain Police Department (FPD), officers originally responded on April 25 to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Blossom Field Road, north of Metcalfe Park. When officers arrived, they found an adult man with an apparent gunshot wound. The other involved people were no longer in the area, FPD said.
While officers were still on scene, they were notified that a second adult man had arrived at a local urgent care with a gunshot wound. The investigation revealed the man who showed up at urgent care was one of the people involved in the shooting.
FPD detectives took over the investigation and identified one of the involved people as 43-year-old David Downey II. On June 4, Downey was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on charges of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possessing a dangerous weapon, and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing, and FPD asked anyone with information to contact Detective Michael Bixby at (719) 314-9932 or mbixby@fountainpd.com.
