(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A new IKEA location is set to open soon in Colorado Springs, though it will not be the massive, sprawling shopping experience many IKEA fans are used to.
The new location in University Village off North Nevada Avenue will serve as a unique shopping experience where customers can plan their home upgrades, browse options, and place online orders with the help of IKEA team members. Referred to as a “plan and order point with pick-up,” the new location is one of many new format stores that IKEA said will expand how customers can shop and increase accessibility of the brand by bringing the products to the customers.
It is different from the traditional large-format IKEA stores as it gives customers the opportunity to meet with the IKEA store team to plan and order home furnishings that require a bit more help – such as kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.
“We are thrilled to offer Colorado Springs metro area residents more ways to shop and experience IKEA,” said Javier Quiñones, CEO & Chief Sustainability Officer, IKEA U.S. “This new location highlights our commitment to bring IKEA closer to the many people and make it easier and more affordable to access our home furnishing products and solutions.”
Customers will not be able to take their orders home day-of, though IKEA team members can arrange for delivery or schedule orders to be picked up from the North Nevada Avenue location. In addition to picking up items ordered through the Nevada store, customers will also be able to pick up orders placed through IKEA.com. Online shoppers will have the option to pick up qualifying orders by selecting the “IKEA Colorado Springs at UVC” as their preferred pick-up location at checkout.
The University Village store will open on Wednesday, Nov. 5, with a grand opening planned for 10 a.m. The community is invited to enjoy tours, giveaways, food sampling and more. The store is located at 5102 North Nevada Ave, next door to Chipotle.
