(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Felipe’s 109 has announced it will close its doors to its brick-and-mortar location and return to its food truck roots.
Felipe’s posted the announcement on social media on Labor Day, Sept. 1.
“Over the course of 5 years, we have had the opportunity to create memories with you. Southeast has been our home and always will be,” Felipe’s wrote. “As many of you have known, we have had our string of struggles like any business. Failing equipment, costs of upkeep, trying to coup past losses and so on have caused us to make the abrupt decision to close our South Academy location permanently.”
The closure is effective immediately, and Felipe’s is now closed. The restaurant explained that the potential impacts from Phase 2 of the South Academy construction project contributed to the decision to close.
“A car wash has purchased the property and will be starting construction on it in January/February,” Felipe’s said. “This decision is based not only because of what we see coming with the future projects in Southeast, but also our current well-being.”
Felipe’s explained that the food truck would still be open and running for events.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our family, our staff, customers and community. We are forever grateful for you all and will never forget the impact this past 5 years has had on us,” Felipe’s 109 said.
