DENVER (KDVR) — A fan died at a King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard concert in Buena Vista on Friday, the band announced in a joint message with venue Meadow Creek through a social media post.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard were hosting the Field of Vision festival, where the Australian band headlined a group of artists and played a three-hour set each night from Aug. 15 to Aug. 17.
During the first show on Friday, a man collapsed in the audience, and fans alerted the band, who called for medical responders. The concert was halted while medical personnel responded.
In an Instagram story post on Sunday, the band shared its condolences to the man’s family, friends and loved ones.
“We are deeply saddened to share that on Friday night, a member of our community passed away due to an unexpected medical event despite the best efforts from emergency teams,” said the band. “We send our love and condolences to their family, friends and all who are impacted by this loss. In moments like these, we are reminded of the importance of showing up for one another and are profoundly grateful for the compassion and care shown by so many.”
The three nights of playing were livestreamed on the band’s YouTube channel, but the video of the first night, which would have been streaming when the medical emergency occurred, has since been removed.
