DENVER (KDVR) — A passenger was pinned inside a sedan after a crash at a Lakewood intersection on Tuesday, leading to firefighters removing the vehicle’s roof to get them out safely.
The crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of West Exposition and South Lee Court and involved a delivery truck and a four-door Honda sedan.
The driver of the truck had minor injuries. Both people in the sedan were injured; the driver sustained minor injuries while the passenger was in critical condition while pinned inside the car.
West Metro Fire Rescue said that firefighters had to remove the roof of the car to get the car’s occupants out safely.
“While we train for this type of extrication, it’s rare to have to remove a roof to access patients and get them out safely, but the extent of damage to the vehicle made it necessary,” West Metro Fire Rescue commented in its post on Facebook.
