(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A dirt bike rider was killed in a possible speed-related crash in the Stratton Meadows area of Colorado Springs on Monday, May 12.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers and members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle dirt bike crash shortly before 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of Florence Avenue, in a neighborhood northeast of Highway 115 and Lake Avenue.
When first responders arrived, they provided medical aid to the dirt bike rider before transporting them to the hospital. The rider died of their injuries upon arrival to the hospital.
According to CSPD, initial information gained from video footage and witness statements indicates speed was likely a factor in the crash.
