UPDATE: FRIDAY 8/22/2025 5:58 p.m.
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A suspect is dead after he allegedly fired shots at law enforcement on the east side of Colorado Springs on Friday, Aug. 22.
According to CSPD, officers with the Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force and the tactical unit responded shortly after 2:45 p.m. on Friday to the 1100 block of Branding Iron Circle in search of a wanted suspect. Officers located the suspect in his car, and attempted to make contact with him.
CSPD said officers identified themselves and gave the man commands to step out of his car; however, the suspect did not comply. At this time, officers realized that the suspect was in possession of a gun.
CSPD said the suspect fired at least one shot at officers, and at least one officer returned fire, hitting the suspect. Emergency aid was provided to the suspect but he was declared dead by responding medical personnel. No officers or bystanders were injured in the shooting.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation into the shooting.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officer-involved shooting near Cimarron Hills
There is law enforcement presence in the area of Galley Road and Powers Boulevard due to an officer-involved shooting on Friday, Aug. 22.
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) confirmed to FOX21 News just after 4 p.m. that an officer-involved shooting had occurred on Branding Iron Circle, just northwest of Galley and Powers.
CSPD said no officers were injured in the shooting.
