(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A crash killed one person and seriously injured two when a vehicle drove off the side of the road on East Platte Avenue and hit a tree on early Sunday morning, Aug. 24, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
According to CSPD, at around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the crash at the 2300 block of Platte, near Union Boulevard, and learned that the vehicle had been driving eastbound on Platte and had driven off the south side of the road and hit a tree.
Officers found multiple victims, including a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene, and two people who had been seriously injured and were taken to the hospital, according to CSPD.
The Major Crash Team took over the investigation, which is ongoing, but according to CSPD, alcohol appears to be a contributing factor. One person, Jayden M. Hendricks, was arrested.
