(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association (CSDSA) raised over $100,000 with their annual Down Syndrome Walk on Saturday, Sept. 6, when hundreds of families, friends, and community members united to support CSDSA’s mission to provide vital resources and connections to people with Down syndrome and their families.
Participants had the chance to enjoy food, music, and prizes in addition to the scenic walk through Bear Creek Park, which surpassed the $100k goal and raised $109,635. Attendees had a choice between a longer walk at 2.5 miles or a shorter 1.7-mile walk.
The event also included a kids’ fun zone, brunch, and other family-friendly activities inside the Norris Penrose Event Center, but the best part was the sense of community and support fostered at the event. For families facing the challenges of raising children with disabilities, the walk offered a chance to spend time with others who have walked their paths.
